Stella is a central-northern quartiere climbing from the Centro Storico toward the Capodimonte hill. The Catacombe di San Gennaro (Naples's most important early-Christian catacombs) and the Orto Botanico di Napoli (the University's botanical garden, founded 1807) are the major draws. The neighborhood mixes working-class lower streets with middle-class hill streets.

Mixed working-class and middle-class Neapolitan families, retirees, students at the medical and science faculties (the Botanical Garden is a Federico II facility), professionals. Less tourist than the Centro Storico.

Metro Linea 2 (Cavour), Linea 1 (Museo). Buses up to Capodimonte. Walking to the Centro Storico 10-15 minutes.

When NOT to pick it
If you want walking to Lungomare: Stella is 25-30 minutes south. If you want vibrant nightlife: limited locally. If you want medieval atmosphere: this is more 19th-20th century.
Stella is the right pick if you want a calmer central-Naples residential just north of the postcard zone, with the Orto Botanico and Catacombe as your local landmarks.
