Living in San Giusto, Pisa
Affitto stanza singola tra privati Living in San Giusto, Pisa - senza agenzia - Pisa
South-bank Pisa around the Stazione Centrale and Corso Italia. Home to Keith Haring's Tuttomondo mural, a mix of housing and student rentals, and easy reach of the Galileo Galilei airport via the PisaMover.
San Giusto-Sant'Antonio is the south-bank district of Pisa stretching from Piazza Sant'Antonio and Corso Italia, just behind the Stazione Centrale, down toward the San Giusto parish and the airport. Sant'Antonio is the lively area at the foot of Corso Italia, home to Keith Haring's Tuttomondo mural (painted in 1989 on the rear wall of the Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate); San Giusto is the more residential stretch further south, toward the Galileo Galilei airport. The whole district sits on the Mezzogiorno (south) side of the Arno.
What it is
A mix of 19th- and 20th-century housing between Corso Italia, the Stazione Centrale, and the airport, with Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II (the large square at the head of Corso Italia, by the station), the Tuttomondo mural by Keith Haring, schools, small commercial strips, and the San Giusto and Sant'Antonio parishes. The PisaMover people-mover runs through the southern edge, linking the station to the airport.
Who lives here
A blend of students (proximity to the station and Corso Italia makes it convenient), Pisan working- and middle-class families, professionals, retirees, and commuters who value being next to the train station. The student presence thins out toward San Giusto and the airport.
What it's like during the day
Busy near the station and Corso Italia - shoppers, commuters, the steady flow around Piazza Sant'Antonio. Calmer toward San Giusto. Local fruttivendoli, bars, and bakeries throughout.
What it's like in the evening
Active around Corso Italia and Sant'Antonio, quieter toward San Giusto. Pizzerie, trattorie, and student-friendly bars serve the area; the denser aperitivo scene is a short walk north toward the river and Piazza Garibaldi.
Getting around
Walking and cycling - Piazza dei Cavalieri is about 15 minutes on foot over the Ponte di Mezzo, the Stazione Centrale is on the doorstep, and the PisaMover reaches the airport in about 5 minutes. Autolinee Toscane buses LAM Rossa, 4 connect to the centre and the wider city.
Eating and shopping
Corso Italia shopping, local bakeries with cecina, fruttivendoli, macellerie. Coop, Conad, Esselunga. Family pizzerie and trattorie with Tuscan cooking.
When NOT to pick it
If you want the deepest historic core on your doorstep: the centre is a 10-15 minute walk over the river. If you want quiet: the streets around the station and Corso Italia are busy.
San Giusto-Sant'Antonio is the right pick if you want to live next to the train station and Corso Italia, walk to the centre over the Ponte di Mezzo, reach the airport in minutes via the PisaMover, and have Keith Haring's Tuttomondo mural around the corner.
