Corvetto is a working-class district in south-eastern Milan (Municipio 4), around Piazzale Corvetto. It developed at the end of the 1920s with the public housing of the Istituto Autonomo Case Popolari - the Mazzini district, around Piazzale Ferrara, dates from then - and experienced successive waves of immigration, first from Southern Italy and then from abroad, becoming a strongly multi-ethnic area. Today it is an authentic district undergoing regeneration, with an active network of associations and a growing street-art scene.

Long-standing working-class residents and a strongly multi-ethnic population, with communities of foreign origin well rooted in the streets and shops. A district of work and neighbourhood, with many grassroots associations.
By day
Working-class and multi-ethnic, made of shops, markets and street life. On the southern side, towards the Porto di Mare stop, opens the Parco Porto di Mare (Parco Cassinis), a large green area on the south-eastern edges of the city.

Residential and quiet: neighbourhood bars and venues serving those who live here. It is not a nightlife area.
Getting around
The main connection is the M3 yellow line, with the Corvetto and Porto di Mare stops: the Duomo is a few minutes away (under ten), along the axis of Corso Lodi and Porta Romana. On the surface there is the trolleybus 93 and some bus lines; there are no trams at the piazzale. The district depends above all on the single M3 line, a limitation to consider for connections.

A neighbourhood and multi-ethnic offering: shops, grocers and restaurants that reflect the make-up of the district, alongside the local markets for fresh produce. Practical and good value, rather than spectacular.
